Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of The Narrator AI, an AI-run tabletop roleplaying game service (the “Service”). By joining the waitlist, creating an account or playing, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use The Narrator AI. If you are under 13, you may not join the waitlist, create an account or play, and you must not give us your personal information. If we learn that someone under 13 has used the Service, we will remove their account and delete their data.

If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most places), you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your use of it.

2. Early access

The Service is in pre-release. Alpha access may change, break, be reset or be withdrawn at any time, and we make no promise that any feature, campaign or character will be kept.

3. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for everything done through it. Keep your login details private, give us accurate information, and tell us if you think your account has been compromised.

4. Content that is not allowed

Roleplaying is about danger, conflict and moral compromise, and dark fiction is welcome. The following is not allowed at all, in any framing or fictional justification:

• Hate: slurs, hate speech, or support for hate groups or extremist movements.
• Sexual content of any kind, including sexual violence and any sexual content involving minors or animals.
• Attempts to manipulate the AI itself, such as prompt injection or code and query syntax.
• Harassment of other players, threats, or sharing other people's private information.
• Anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

Our automated classifier checks what players write. Text it blocks is not sent to the AI or shown to other players, and the attempt is recorded. Repeated or serious attempts may result in suspension or permanent removal of your account, without warning and without refund.

Safety tools such as the X-card are part of play. Use them, and respect it when another player does.

5. Other players

The Narrator handles negotiation between players and the Game Master, but it does not moderate conduct between players. You are responsible for how you treat the people at your table. Please report a player to us at hello@thenarrator.ai and we may act on it, but we can't promise to monitor or resolve every dispute.

6. AI-generated content

Narration, characters and other content in a session are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, surprising or inconsistent. It is fiction, not advice. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.

7. Content you create

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us a licence to store, process, display and transmit it as needed to run the Service, including sending it to our AI providers and showing it to the other players in your session. Adventures written by authors and the game system itself belong to their creators and to us; you may not copy, scrape or resell them.

8. Acceptable use of the Service

Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service, or use automated tools to play or extract content from it.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we need to protect the Service or other players.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, The Narrator AI is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data or progress, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you, and continuing to use the Service after it takes effect means you accept the new terms.
